I joined the ends for a beautiful cowl on one of my tries and it is gorgeous. The next time I had some wool from Ireland but not enough for a long scarf so I made a button hole on one side and put a button on the other and now have a neat cravat/neck warmer.

There is no specific pattern for this scarf. It can be done in any yarn - as pictured, it is knit holding two yarns together, a kid mohair (Sublime "Kid Mohair Blend", since discontinued) and Filatura di Crosa "Night". I cast on 21 stitches - any multiple of three will do. If you google "short row shaping" you should be able to locate a video that will show you the technique. Knit across and back, then knit 2/3 of the way (e.g. 14 stitches), wrap and purl back, then knit 1/3 of the way (7 stitches), wrap and purl back. Then knit all the way across, picking up the wraps, and purl back. Begin again by knitting 2/3 of the way and continue as above to desired length.

Hi Snoopy!,

The cable is always turned at the beginning of the row. The first time on side 'A', the second time on side 'B'. Every row starts with knit 2 and ends with purl 2, so after turning the cable continue in k2, p2 until the end of the row! Hope this helps.
